In the event of a lithium battery fire or thermal runaway, the Extover® material surrounds the source of the fire, provides thermal insulation and helps suppress and extinguish the fire while significantly reducing the spread of heat.
Extover® is a mineral-based fire extinguishing granulate specifically developed for demanding fire protection applications. It is non-combustible, highly temperature resistant and designed to reduce heat transfer, isolate burning materials and limit oxygen access around the fire source. The combination of coarse and fine granules provides excellent coverage and thermal insulation.
The Extover® fire extinguishing granulate has been extensively tested by independent testing institutes for lithium battery fires as well as metal fires. Its extinguishing performance on Class D metal fires has been successfully verified according to DIN EN 3-7:2004 + A1:2007.
