The HobbyZone AeroScout S 2 1.1m RTF Basic is one of the most durable and versatile electric trainers for beginners and experienced pilots who want to teach others how to fly RC aircraft. Its intelligent design, forgiving flight characteristics and exclusive Spektrum SAFE technology make learning to fly easier while helping to prevent loss of control and crashes.
The Ready-To-Fly Basic version includes a Spektrum DXS transmitter with reliable DSMX 2.4GHz technology. The model arrives mostly assembled and is factory-equipped with a brushless motor, Spektrum Avian Smart Lite 30A ESC, Spektrum AR631+ receiver and four servos. Only a suitable 3S LiPo battery and compatible charger are required to complete the model.
Three selectable flight modes allow the model to adapt to the pilot’s experience. Beginner Mode limits the pitch and bank angles to help prevent overcontrol. When the control sticks are released, SAFE automatically returns the aircraft to a stable and level attitude. Intermediate Mode provides greater freedom while still preventing overcontrol. Experienced Mode removes the angle limits and allows full control for aerobatic manoeuvres including loops, rolls and inverted flight.
If the pilot loses orientation in Intermediate or Experienced Mode, the Panic Recovery function can return the aircraft to a stable attitude at the press of a button. Alternatively, the pilot can switch back to Beginner Mode and release the control sticks.
The updated Spektrum AR631+ receiver features a pre-installed Smart Transmitter Model File. When the model is bound to compatible Spektrum NX and iX transmitters, the required model settings can be imported automatically. The Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC also provides telemetry including an approximate indication of the remaining flight battery capacity. Compatible Spektrum AirWare transmitters can display additional information such as motor RPM, current and total battery voltage.
The distinctive pusher power configuration positions the propeller behind the wing, helping to protect both the propeller and motor during landings and minor incidents. This arrangement also provides additional safety when handling the aircraft. The lightweight yet durable EPO airframe is designed to withstand the demands of regular training and everyday flying.
The tricycle landing gear features a steerable nose wheel and oversized tyres for easy take-offs and landings from a wide variety of surfaces. The model can be operated from paved runways, grass fields and suitable gravel surfaces. A reinforced nose section, stronger nose gear mount and metal-geared servo for rudder and nose wheel steering provide additional durability.
The included RealFlight Trainer Edition allows new pilots to practise flying the AeroScout S 2 and other popular trainer aircraft before their first real flight. The Spektrum DXS transmitter can be connected to a compatible Windows PC or laptop using a suitable USB-C cable. Virtual Flight Instructor lessons help beginners learn the essential controls and flying techniques.
The AeroScout S 2 arrives mostly factory-assembled. Only a few simple assembly steps are required, with no glue or special tools needed. An optional float set is available separately and allows the AeroScout S 2 to be converted into a floatplane within minutes.
