The HobbyZone AeroScout S 2 1.1m is one of the most durable and versatile trainer aircraft in its class. It is ideal for beginners learning to fly an RC aircraft as well as experienced pilots and flying clubs helping others enter the hobby.
This updated version of the popular AeroScout features a reinforced nose section, a stronger nose gear mount and a metal-geared servo for rudder and nose wheel steering. Its protected pusher power configuration, durable EPO construction and rugged landing gear make it an excellent choice for regular training use.
Bind-N-Fly Basic completion level:
The model is supplied as a BNF Basic version with a factory-installed brushless power system, Spektrum Avian 30A Smart Lite ESC, four installed servos and a Spektrum AR631+ receiver. A compatible full-range Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 transmitter with at least six channels, a suitable 3S LiPo battery and a compatible charger are additionally required.
After completing a few simple assembly steps, the receiver only needs to be bound to the transmitter. No glue or special tools are required.
SAFE technology:
Exclusive Spektrum SAFE technology assists the pilot during flight and helps prevent over-control, loss of orientation and resulting crashes. Three switch-selectable flight modes allow the level of electronic assistance to be adapted to the pilot’s experience.
Beginner mode:
Beginner mode limits the maximum pitch and bank angles. When the control sticks are released, the aircraft automatically returns to a stable and approximately level attitude. This also makes take-offs and landings significantly easier.
Intermediate mode:
Intermediate mode allows greater pitch and bank angles while still helping prevent excessive control inputs. The aircraft no longer returns fully to level flight when the sticks are released, providing more freedom for tighter turns and faster climbs or descents.
Experienced mode:
Experienced mode removes pitch and bank angle limits and gives the pilot full control. Aerobatic manoeuvres including loops, rolls and inverted flight can be performed in this mode.
Panic Recovery:
If the pilot loses orientation or control while flying in Intermediate or Experienced mode, Panic Recovery can be activated at the push of a button. SAFE technology automatically returns the AeroScout S 2 to a stable flight attitude. The pilot can also switch back to Beginner mode at any time.
Smart Transmitter File:
The Spektrum AR631+ receiver contains a pre-installed Smart Transmitter File. When binding the aircraft to a compatible Spektrum NX or iX transmitter, the required model settings can be imported automatically.
Switch assignments, control rates, expo, telemetry settings and voice alerts are configured automatically, eliminating much of the manual transmitter programming normally required.
Smart telemetry:
When used with a compatible Spektrum Smart battery, the installed Spektrum Avian 30A Smart Lite ESC can transmit a range of real-time power system telemetry data to compatible Spektrum transmitters. Depending on the transmitter and equipment used, this can include total battery voltage, current, motor rpm and additional power system information.
Powerful brushless system:
The efficient brushless power system provides smooth and predictable trainer performance while offering enough power for aerobatic manoeuvres in Experienced mode. A 3S 1300 mAh LiPo battery provides balanced performance, while a 3S LiPo battery with up to 2200 mAh offers longer flight times.
Protected pusher configuration:
The motor and propeller are positioned behind the wing. This pusher configuration improves safety when handling the model and helps protect the propeller and motor during landings and minor mishaps.
Extremely durable construction:
The lightweight yet durable airframe is manufactured from advanced EPO material. A reinforced nose section, stronger nose gear mount and metal-geared rudder and nose wheel steering servo make the AeroScout S 2 exceptionally durable and ideal for regular training use.
If a component is damaged beyond repair, a comprehensive range of replacement and optional parts is available.
Rugged landing gear:
The durable tricycle landing gear features a steerable nose wheel and oversized tyres. This makes take-offs and landings possible from paved runways, short grass and various other suitable surfaces.
Easy assembly:
The AeroScout S 2 arrives largely pre-assembled with the power system, receiver and servos already installed. Final assembly can be completed in less than one hour without glue or special tools.
Optional floats:
The separately available HBZ3811 float set converts the AeroScout S 2 into a floatplane within a few minutes. The required mounting hardware is included with the aircraft and float set.
Optional appearance:
A separately available blue and black decal sheet can be used to give the aircraft a different appearance.
RealFlight RC simulator:
The AeroScout S 2 can also be flown in the separately available RealFlight RC simulator. This allows pilots to practise basic control, take-offs, landings and various flight manoeuvres on a computer without risking the model.
