The Piper PA-18 Super Cub is a two-seat, single-engine monoplane developed from the Piper PA-11. More than 9,000 aircraft were built during a production period of almost 40 years. The versatile Super Cub is still used for bush flying, towing operations and banner flying.
The FMS PA-18 Super Cub combines the distinctive appearance of the original aircraft with forgiving flight characteristics and impressive versatility. Its high-lift wing profile and functional flaps allow the model to fly particularly slowly and in a realistic manner.
Its impressive STOL capabilities allow take-offs in less than three metres. The large 6.5-inch balloon tyres and sprung metal landing gear are suitable for take-offs and landings on grass strips and uneven terrain. A steerable tail wheel enables precise ground manoeuvring.
The powerful brushless power system consists of a 3541-KV750 outrunner motor and a Predator 45A ESC. In combination with the included 2700 mAh 4S LiPo battery, the model provides a flight time of approximately four to five minutes.
The motor, ESC and six 17 g metal-geared servos are already installed. The linkages and ball-bearing control horns are also pre-installed. Thanks to the mainly screw-fastened construction and integrated wing servo connectors, the PA-18 is ready for flight after a short final assembly process.
Installed navigation lights and a landing light provide excellent visibility and a particularly realistic appearance. An optional float set is also available for operating the Super Cub from water.
FMS Reflex V3 Stabilization System:
The included FMS Reflex V3 stabilization system is specifically configured for the PA-18 Super Cub and assists the pilot without unnecessarily restricting control inputs. It supports PPM and SBUS signals and offers three selectable operating modes when connected to a three-position transmitter switch.
- Stabilized mode: When the control sticks are released, the model automatically returns to a neutral flight attitude.
- Optimized mode: The gyro system counteracts external influences such as gusts and crosswinds to maintain a stable flight attitude.
- Off: Electronic stabilization can be completely disabled.
The Reflex V3 system is pre-programmed specifically for this model. No additional basic configuration of the stabilization system is required.
