The FLIX DLG is a compact, high-performance RC discus-launch glider with a wingspan of 850 mm. It can be launched either by hand or using the classic discus-launch technique. Its compact dimensions make it easy to transport and suitable for flying in many different locations. A simple 2-channel radio system and two lightweight pico servos are sufficient for control.
The model is supplied as a traditional wooden construction kit made from balsa, lightweight plywood and carbon fibre. Precisely CNC-cut parts with accurately fitting tabs and slots make assembly quick and straightforward, almost like putting together a puzzle. The wing can be built on a flat work surface without requiring a special building jig.
The front section of the fuselage consists of a pod assembled from stacked CNC-cut balsa and plywood parts. The rudder and elevator servos are installed beneath a removable side cover with a magnetic closure. A lightweight and rigid carbon-fibre tube forms the rear fuselage and incorporates a laminated mounting plate for the horizontal stabiliser.
The one-piece wing features balsa ribs, a thin-walled carbon-fibre tube main spar and CNC-cut balsa leading and trailing edges. This design provides excellent structural strength while keeping the overall weight extremely low. The wing is secured to the fuselage with a screw.
The supplied launch peg can be installed in the reinforced left wingtip for right-handed pilots or in the right wingtip for left-handed pilots. The rudder and elevator are operated by Bowden cables.
The tail surfaces are assembled from CNC-cut balsa parts. Lightweight covering materials such as transparent Oralight® film, tissue or similar materials are recommended.
The FLIX DLG is ideal for model builders who already have some experience assembling traditional balsa models. The detailed manual guides you through the construction and includes a link to an illustrated guide explaining the correct hand-launch and discus-launch techniques.
The FLIX DLG was developed and is manufactured in the Czech Republic.
