Lithium-ion batteries are not only found in mobile phones, but also in notebooks, tablets, tools, alarm systems, electric bicycles and even toys. And especially in RC model building we find more and more powerful LiPo batteries in use.

If such batteries are visibly or not visibly damaged, or if they are recharged after a deep discharge, this can lead to spontaneous combustion. We have taken up the challenge to meet the required safety standards.

The batteries are placed on and between the extinguishing agent bags filled with Extover® fire protection fire granulate and covered so that no slippage is possible. The hazardous goods box is closed and secured with the belt.

Extover® is applied directly to the fire so that the fire source is completely covered. We recommend a covering height of 10 to 30 cm above the source of the fire, depending on the fire object to be extinguished.

Attention: The safety box is only suitable for undamaged or uncritically defective batteries according to packaging instructions P908 / LP904. If during transport there is a risk that a defective cell may still ignite, it is imperative that the authority (BAM) obtains approval in accordance with special regulation 376 for shipment! Cells and batteries which, under normal conditions of carriage, have a tendency to rapid disassembly, dangerous reaction, flame formation, dangerous heat generation or dangerous emission of toxic, corrosive or flammable gases or vapours may only be carried under the conditions laid down by the competent authority.

Our fire extinguishing granulate is suitable for fire loads of classes D and lithium ions. Problematic fire loads such as metal fires, battery fires, lithium fires or flammable liquids can be controlled and extinguished with the granulate without causing damage to the extinguishing agent.

The extinguishing effect of the granules in metal fires was tested and confirmed by MPA Dresden using a sodium and magnesium fire.
