How hot does the EasySafeBox become during a real lithium battery fire?
In our new video, we document the controlled fire test of a 520 Wh lithium battery inside the EasySafeBox. The test was conducted on 1 September 2026 at the Poraver Research Center in Schlüsselfeld under controlled conditions and with professional supervision.
Following the reaction of the battery cells, the EasySafeBox was thoroughly inspected. A thermal imaging camera was used to examine all external surfaces, the interior and the underside of the prototype.
The thermal images show a convincing result: The external surfaces of the EasySafeBox remained predominantly below 50 °C. A higher reading of approximately 87 °C was measured only directly underneath the prototype.
The prototype used for this test did not yet contain the approximately 5 cm layer of Extover® granules planned for the bottom of the production version. This additional layer is intended to provide further thermal insulation underneath the box. Our target is to keep this area below 40 °C as well. This will be confirmed through further practical testing.
The video also shows the test setup, the preparation of the battery, the condition of the EasySafeBox after the battery reaction and the residual heat remaining inside the box.
This successful test represents another important step towards the production-ready EasySafeBox. Further testing, optimisation and certification will follow.
