Epoxy resin L 385 is an aerospace-approved laminating resin system for processing glass, carbon and aramid fibres.
Processing time: 120 minutes
Good mechanical and thermal properties.
Due to its good mechanical properties, this system is suitable for the production of components with high static and dynamic loads, especially for the construction of gliders, motor gliders and motor aircraft, for boat and ship building, the production of sports equipment and model aircraft.
After curing at room temperature, the parts are machinable and demoldable. Even under unfavourable curing conditions, such as lower temperatures (> 20 °C) or high humidity, the result is a tack-free, high-gloss surface. The mixing viscosity is adjusted in such a way that fast and optimum wetting of the reinforcing fibres is guaranteed, but leakage of the resin from fabrics on vertical surfaces is prevented.
Package contents:
- 500g epoxy resin L385 + 175g hardener 386
Mixing ratio:
- 100 : 35 parts by weight resin L 385 : Hardener 386
- 100 : 43 volume parts resin L 385 : Hardener 386
Curing time:
- 24 hours at 20 °C +
- Hot hardening 10-15 hours at 50-80 °C (at least 40 °C is necessary to get out of brittle phase)
Storage: Despite the low crystallization tendency of our resin systems, we recommend storage of the containers in a place with low humidity at 15-30 °C. After removing the material, the containers must be carefully closed to prevent water absorption, especially by the hardeners. Aminic hardeners in particular tend to chemical reactions when exposed to air, also known as carbamate formation or blushing, which may render the material unusable under certain circumstances. This chemical reaction can be recognized by a white deposit in the material. In originally sealed containers, the materials have a shelf life of at least 2 years from the date of production.
