The officially licensed Hummer H1 in 1:12 scale from FMS is an incredibly detailed and functional RC scaler. The model comes completely ready to drive with built-in drive with 2-speed gearbox, 7 built-in servos (including for 2WD/4WD switching) and including remote control system and battery out of the box.
The original
In the late 1970s, the U.S. Army proposed the development concept of a High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (or HMWWOr for short) based on lessons learned from the Vietnam War.
The task set was to replace a wide range of jeeps and trucks with a light off-road vehicle that would meet the requirements of all military units while providing a high level of nodular maintenance and improved reliability, while minimizing logistics and procurement costs.
AM General (AMG) was eventually awarded the Army contract to produce such a vehicle, beating off stiff competition from sports car manufacturer Lamborghini.
After the war, AMG launched a civilian version of the HUMW, officially called the HUMMER. The first civilian HUMIMER was the H1 and won the favor of many tough guys - due to its arrogant size, performance and many unique variants. To improve stability, the 6,500cc V8 diesel engine is centered at the front and located at the lowest point in the middle of the bean, with the drive shaft for the front axle running parallel to the side of the engine to transfer power from the transfer case. Having the driveline deep in the center of the vehicle ensures that the HUMMER can still achieve high speeds and stability even with a curb weight of up to 3 tons.
The model
The FMS HUMMER H1 is the next RC car in a line of highly detailed and functional scale vehicles from FMS. From the detailed interior, to the functional exterior body, to the chassis, this model is modeled after its larger prototype in nearly every area.
The drive
The drive is provided by a 370 brushed motor, which is hidden inside the scale motor housing. However, the gearbox does not need to be hidden as these gearbox assemblies operate within the gearbox housing. Two servos are located on either side of the engine and control both the shifting between high and low gears and the operation of the transfer case, switching between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Power from the transfer case is transmitted to the front and rear axles via a pair of metal drive shafts, and both the front and rear differentials have differential locks, each driven by a servo that can be locked by remote control. Four metal drive shafts transmit power at each corner of the vehicle from the differential to the reduction gearbox, also known as the "portal axle." Das Fahrzeug ist nicht nur serienmäßig mit Metallantriebswellen ausgestattet, sondern auch mit einem Vollmetallgetriebe und 47 Kugellagern.
The steering
The rear wheel steering was originally a retrofit for the planned successor model HUMMER EV. We added it to the HUMMER H1 as an additional hidden feature, so now you have a total of 4 steering modes! Der zusätzliche Modus, der den Lenkradius um 50% reduzieren kann, ist ideal in engen Räumen und wird den Fahrspaß dieses wunderschön nachgebildeten Scale-Fahrzeugs sicher noch weiter steigern.
Under the hood
The HUMMER H1 has a front-mid engine like the real vehicle, and to make maintenance easier, the hood can be folded forward, while at the same time the front bumper must be folded forward to avoid damage. The hood latch was also reproduced in 1:12 scale and stamped from 0.4 mm sheet metal. Bei geöffneter Motorhaube sind neben dem V8-Motor auch der 7-Kanal-Empfänger und die Batterie leicht zugänglich.
The Innenraum
In order to satisfy even the most critical scale enthusiasts, the attention to detail on this model was of utmost importance - this also applies to the almost perfectly reproduced interior.
The 4 doors of the FMS HUMMER H1 can all be opened and the intelligent door locking mechanism is a separate unit. When you open the doors, you get access to the fantastically detailed interior with 4 soft rubber seats perfectly prepared for 1:12 scale moving figures. The cabin also features a highly detailed dashboard and a movable steering wheel that turns with the main steering. The roof is also removable, allowing the scale enthusiast to insert their figures or simply view the interior. The windshield can also be lowered forward, which is handy for mounting various military weapons, or simply for a more rugged and wild look.
The body
The body of the Hummer is mainly made of aluminum alloy and fiberglass - the fastening method is riveting, so there is no doubt that the entire body is covered with rivets.
The lighting
FMS's Hummer has a ready integrated lighting system: headlights, fog lights, turn signals, marker lights, tail lights, reverse lights, brake lights. All lights can be operated by the remote control.
